The maritime industry requires a steady pool of qualified and quality manpower to support its robust growth.  It offers good career prospects with commensurate salaries, job stability and job flexibility. More importantly, the industry presents interesting challenges for the dynamic and adventurous individual.

Leveraging on its years of experience in developing and maintaining one of the busiest ports in the world, a quality merchant fleet and a vibrant maritime centre, Singapore has earned itself a global reputation as a Centre of Excellence for Port and Maritime Training and Education.  We adopt high training standards, and offer a broad range of ship and shore-based courses in first-rate training facilities.

Our Integrated Simulation Centre of Singapore (ISC) provides highly realistic maritime simulation training for ship officers and crew in a risk-free environment.

We also fund training programmes that enhance local expertise in maritime, and port, marine, and offshore services that are high value-added and knowledge-based.  Our S$80 million Maritime Cluster Fund provides attractive funding.

Other organisations that conduct port, maritime and shipping courses and executive programmes in Singapore include the Singapore Maritime Academy, the local polytechnics, PSA Institute, and the academic institutions, namely, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University.
