TRIPARTITE MARITIME SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

Synopsis

Tripartite Maritime Scholarship (TMS) is offered to students with good GCE 'O' level results to be trained to become a Masters or a Chief Engineers of ocean-going merchant ships. The seafaring experience will prepare scholars for top management positions in maritime companies ashore. 10 scholarships are awarded every year.

Field of Study
Diploma in Nautical Studies (DNS) and Diploma in Marine Engineering (DMR) at the Singapore Maritime Academy, Singapore Polytechnic. Please click here for the training path for scholars attending the  DNS Course  or the  DMR Course.

Value of Scholarship
Enjoying generous training allowance of $900 per month during the academic and shipboard training, scholars will get a sponsorship amounting to $50,000.

Terms

Bond Period: TMS Scholars will be bonded to work onboard ships owned/managed by the sponsoring shipping employers for 3 years after obtaining the Class 2 Deck or Marine Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency (COC), usually around 3 years after graduating from the Polytechnic.

 

Eligibility

An applicant applying for TMS must:
a) Be a citizen or permanent resident of Singapore;
b) Be between 17 - 22 years of age;
c) Have good results in the GCE 'O' Level examination;
d) A good track record of co-curricula activities and/or community service; and
e) Pass an approved eye sight and medical tests.
