ABOUT THESINGAPORE

NAUTICAL RUN 2008

The Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) will be presenting the 1st Singapore Nautical Run (The Run) on10 October12008,Friday, at theEast Coast Park.This will be the curtain raiser for this year's Singapore Maritime Week1(SMW) and Minister for Transport Mr. Raymond Lim has kindly consented to flag off the event and launching SMW 2008.

The Run is a new SMW event by the maritime community for the maritime community and society at large.As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, it aims to bring together the maritime community to raise funds for the less fortunate.Funds raised through this event will be donated to The President's Challenge and The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.We expect the Run to draw more than 1000 participants from the maritime community, institutions and friends of the maritime community.There will be both competitive and non-competitive run categories, as well as post run activities for the community to mingle.

  • 3.6 nautical miles (6.6 kilometres) Competitive Run as an Individual
  • 3.6 nautical miles (6.6 kilometres) Competitive Run as a Team
  • 0.9 nautical miles (1.6 kilometres) Non-Competitive Run

All categories are open to donors staff and their associates and friends.

For the Competitive Team Category:

  1. A Team shall comprise of16 runners and may be made up of any combination of men and women runners.
  2. All runners will also automatically qualify in the Competitive Individual Category.

RULES&REGULATIONS

Registration

1)Competitive runners must be 15 years and above on run day to participate in the Singapore Nautical Run.

2)Participants below the age of 21 must seek parental or guardian consent before entering the run.

3)There will be no onsite registration on the day of the event.

4)Entries are to be made on official Participant Registration Form(photocopies will be accepted).Completed Forms can be submitted through FAX (6278 7646) or EMAIL (snr@mpa.gov.sg).

5)Registration Forms that are incomplete will NOT be accepted.

6)Run categories and run entries are not transferable.

7)The Organisers will not be responsible for any dispute arising from incomplete details given by participants.

8)Once the Registration Form has been duly processed, there will be no fee refund for participants who, without submission of valid reasons and proper documents, decide not to take part.

9)The Organisers reserve the right to cancel or postpone the event without any prior notification.

10)The Organisers reserve the right to limit the number of participants in, and to refuse any applicant from, entering the run.

11)RACE PACKS for registered Competitive and Non-Competitive runners will be available for collection on1MONDAY 6 OCTOBER 2008 from the MPA Technology Division Conference Room (460 Alexandra Road,PSA Building #20-00, S119963). Please send ONE REPRESENTATIVE from your company to collect the Race Packs.

The Run

1)Participants should be aware that participation in the run carries with it inherent risks of bodily injury. Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organisers to ensure participants' safety, participants agree that their participation in the run is with full understanding and acceptance of the risks involved. Subject to applicable law and statute, participants agree not to hold the Organisers liable for any loss or damage to property, or bodily injury 11(including any permanent incapacity or loss of life) whatsoever and howsoever arising during the event, unless caused by the gross negligence of the Organisers.

2)A participant's failure to observe the Rules and Regulations herein may result in disqualification.

3)A grace period of 10 minutes after the commencement of the Competitive run will be given for latecomers. Any participant who reports later than this grace period will not be allowed to participate in the Competitive run. Latecomers should be aware that their 11timings commence when the run begins.

4)Should any participant feel unwell in the course of run, he/she should stop and seek immediate medical attention at designated medical posts.

5)Participants1must1wear1their1allocated1number1tags1at1all1times1and shall1observe1all1directions1and1instructions1issued1by1the1Organisers1with respect to the run.

6)Support vehicles or pacers are not allowed.

7)Pets, bicycles, in-line skates, prams, push carts, shoes with built-in or attached rollers and any other wheel-run objects are not allowed on the course other than official race and medical vehicles.

8)Participants must run on the designated path for the entire route. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.

9)The Organisers reserve the right to disallow any participant deemed physically unable or incapable of safely continuing the run from continued participation.

General

1)The Organisers reserve the right to use any photograph, motion picture, recording, or any other record of this run and its participants for any legitimate purpose.

2)The Organisers reserve the right to amend the Rules and Regulations here1in without prior notification.
