Shipping is an international and capital intensive business. Recognising this, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has in place a number of attractive support programmes for maritime businesses. We offer help in setting up a maritime business as well as in expanding existing operations. For businesses in need of a highly skilled and specialised workforce, Singapore is home to many maritime professional services such as shipbroking, shipping finance and maritime law. Leveraging on a well-regarded education system and existing intellectual expertise, the MPA has introduced a range of maritime degree/diploma programmes and specialised staff training courses. Working in partnership with local and international education institutions, MPA offers subsidies and scholarships aimed at promoting manpower development in the maritime industry.
