Disputes between owner / master and crew

A master and a seaman may settle disputes relating to employment matters with the Director of Shipping or the court of law.

Both the master and seamen have the right to appeal to the Director of Shipping Division to settle a dispute that happens during employment or opening/closing of the crew agreement. The decision of the Director is final if both parties consented to have the Director settle the dispute. The Director may also decide that the dispute be referred to the court of law.
