The 2017 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards

Mr Andrew Tan, Chief Executive, MPA received the award on MPA’s behalf 

The Port of Singapore clinched the “Best Seaport in Asia” for the 29th time at the 2017 Asia Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS) for its "leading performance on a range of criteria”. MPA Chief Executive, Andrew Tan thanked the strong support of partners and said that MPA will continue to work closely with all our stakeholders to strengthen our competitiveness as a premier global hub port and international maritime centre.


European Society for Quality Research (ESQR)’s Quality Achievements Awards 2017

Mr Yao Yikai, First Secretary (Maritime) received the award on MPA’s behalf 

The European Society for Quality Research  (ESQR)’s Quality Achievements Awards 2017, run by the European Society for Quality Research, recognise the organisations, companies, public administrations and individuals that have demonstrated outstanding commitment, support and efforts to endorse and improve achievements in quality management.  The convention dedicated was held in London (UK) at the Grange St. Paul’s Hotel. .


Public Service Premier Award

Mr Andrew Tan, Chief Executive, MPA received the award on MPA’s behalf

MPA received the Public Service Premier Award, which is the highest accolade given to public agencies for the achievement of Business Excellence standards which includes the Singapore Quality Award (SQA) and four Class-level standards: the Singapore Quality Class, Innovation Class, Service Class and People Developer, at the Excellence in Public Service Awards (ExPSA) Ceremony held on 19 May 2017.


International Best Practice Award Competition (IBPC) Organisation-Wide Innovation Award

The 5th International Best Practice Competition (IBPC) was held in Mumbai, India from 25-26 Apr 2017. For the first time, IBPC introduced a new award called the “IBPC Organisation-Wide Innovation Award”. This award recognises organisations that embraced best practice learning and combined this learning with their own ideas and creativity to become highly innovative and exceled in inculcating an innovation culture throughout all facets of their operation from the leadership to employees and covering all stakeholders leading to innovative processes, products and services. 

MPA has emerged as Runner-up.


PEP-SBF Pro-Enterprise Awards 2016

Mr Andrew Tan, Chief Executive, MPA received the award on MPA’s behalf

The Pro-Enterprise Panel - Singapore Business Federation (PEP-SBF) Awards 2016 recognises the efforts of government agencies in their commitment to stay pro-enterprise as well as the contributions of businesses in providing useful feedback and suggestions to improve the business environment. 

MPA has emerged top again for the fifth consecutive time, with a score of 94.73%.


Green Ports Award System (GPAS) Award

Mr Tan Cheng Peng, Director (Port Policy) received the award on MPA’s behalf

The APEC Port Services Network (APSN) Green Ports Award System (GPAS) launched this year is the only such award for ports in Asia.  MPA is proud to be amongst the seven winners of this inaugural edition of the APSN GPAS Award. 


Singapore Quality Award (SQA)

Mr Andrew Tan, Chief Executive, MPA received the Singapore Quality Award from Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Trade & Industry (Industry) on 27 Oct 2016.

The Singapore Quality Award (SQA) recognises organisations who have met the highest standards of excellence in management systems and practices, and for achieving world-class standards of performance. MPA was conferred the SQA in 2016.

The Annual Report Competiton (ARC) held by MerComm, Inc in New York is a prestigious international competition that honours oustanding achievement in Annual Reports.

MPA won the following awards:

Special Events Gold Award

The ComChest Special Events Awards are presented to organisations and groups of individual for raising substantial funds for Community Chest through fund-raising events. 

MPA received the Special Events Gold Award for our efforts in organising the MPA Charity Golf 2016 as part of our 20th Anniversary celebration and raising $232,200 for Community Chest and MPA’s adopted charities.

ASEAN‬ Corporate Sustainability Summit and Awards (ACSSA) 2016

Mr Wong Kai Cheong, Deputy Director (Shipping 2) received the award on MPA’s behalf

‎MPA‬ is recognised as the winner for the Sustainability‬ Strategy and Runner-Up for the Sustainability Report categories at the ‎ASEAN‬ Corporate Sustainability Summit and Awards (ACSSA) 2016. The ACSSA 2016, organised by Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST), commends the efforts for successful demonstration of their commitment to sustainable operations; provide a platform to showcase sustainable practices and create an avenue for benchmarking; and establish an opportunity to promote maturity in sustainable practices through a healthy competition among industry peers.


Pasir Panjang Terminal Phases 3 & 4 wins top engineering accolade

Mr Toh Ah Cheong, Director (Technology) received the award from Prime Minister on MPA’s behalf

The Pasir Panjang Terminal Phases 3 & 4 development was shortlisted by a panel comprising judges from both the public and private sector and voted by members of the public into “Singapore’s Top 50 Engineering Achievements.” The results were announced at IES’ Golden Jubilee celebrations graced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at a gala on 1 July 2016. MPA receives Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards 2016

The Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards programme (AREA) recognises and honors Asian businesses for championing sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship in the six categories, namely Green Leadership, Investment in People, Health Promotion, Social Empowerment, SME CSR and Responsible Business Leadership. This year 59 organisations were recognised for their responsible entrepreneurial achievements. MPA is proud to announce that we have emerged as one of the winners for the Green Leadership category with the project on Coral relocation and Tuas Reclamation project.


Port of Singapore wins "Best Seaport in Asia" for 28th time

Mr Tan Suan Jow, Director (Shipping) received the award on MPA’s behalf

The Port of Singapore is the “Best Seaport in Asia” for the 28th time. The award was announced at the 2016 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS) held in Shanghai, China on 14 June 2016.  Read the press release here.


International SeaKeepers Society Asia Achievement Award

The International SeaKeepers Society Asia Achievement Award seeks to recognise an organisation in Asia that demonstrates a responsibility towards the health of Asia’s marine environment because of who they are and what they do to take a lead role. MPA won the award in 2016.  


Eco-Office Re-certification

MPA has successfully achieved the Eco-Office certification for all 3 MPA office locations (PSAB, TPC and POCC Vista). The certification is awarded by the Singapore Environment Council and its objective is to raise awareness and cultivate environment-friendly habits within the workplace.


Happy Toilet Re-certification

10 December 2015


The Happy Toilet certification is awarded by the Restroom Association of Singapore and it is a star-grading (from 3-star to 6-star) initiative for toilets which focuses on five main areas – Design, Cleanliness, Effectiveness, Maintenance and User Satisfaction. MPA has received a 5-star certification for all its toilets.

PS21 ExCEL Awards - Most Innovative Project/Policy (Bronze)

The PS21 ExCEL Award  Most Innovation Project/Policy is to recognise projects or policies that best exemplify the ExCEL spirit as well as to affirm/commend inter-agency collaboration efforts demonstrated by the project teams. MPA, A*STAR (National Metrology Centre) and SPRING worked together on the project for setting the World-First Standard on Mass Flow Metering for Bunkering and was awarded Bronze for their efforts.

The PS21 Star Service Team Award recognizes officers that have come together to deliver excellent service and in doing so, improve the lives of fellow Singaporeans. Our Facilities Management Department won the award for Improvements to Marina South Pier.

The ComChest Special Events Awards are presented to organisations and groups of individual for raising substantial funds for Community Chest through fund-raising events. The Special Events Platinum award is the most prestige award for the category and is awarded to organisations that raised $300,000 or more for their fund raising event. 

MPA received the Special Events Platinum Award for our efforts in organising the MPA Charity Golf 2014, which raised $412,488 for Community Chest and MPA’s adopted charities.

MPA clinched top honours at this year's Singapore Environmental Achievement Awards. The green awards were launched in 1997 to inspire local commitment to corporate best practices in the environment. MPA was presented the Outstanding Singapore Environmental Achievement Award. It was also a joint winner in the public sector category, alongside Nanyang Technological University.  


Singapore Apex CSR Awards (Small and Medium Organisations Category)

Issue 26 of Singapore Nautilus clinched a Gold Tabbie award under the Front Cover, Illustration category in the annual Content Marketing Awards presented by US-based organisation Content Marketing Institute. In another category, Best Single Issue: Top 25 Issues, Singapore Nautilus Issue 28 garnered sixth placing.

MPA Receives Recognition for Service & Innovation Class Certifications from SPRING Singapore

May Day Model Partnership Awards

The award is presented by the NTUC and recognises partnerships that have put in efforts to upgrade the workforce. The joint partners receiving this award include Keppel Smit Towage, MPA, STET Maritime and the Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Employees Union for their role in developing the Tugmaster training Programme. 


International Best Practice Competition

The 3rd International Best Practice Competition was held in Abu Dhabi from 24-25 Nov 2014. MPA's project on “MPA Future Ready Project” emerged as Runner-up from an initial pool of 52 international entries.


PEP-SBF Pro-Enterprise Awards 2014

from the Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport Mrs Josephine Teo on 7 Nov 2014.

 

The Pro-Enterprise Panel - Singapore Business Federation (PEP-SBF) Awards 2014 recognises the efforts of government agencies in their commitment to stay pro-enterprise as well as the contributions of businesses in providing useful feedback and suggestions to improve the business environment. This year, MPA emerged top again in the survey for the third consecutive time.

MPA also received the Silver Public Sector Pro-Enterprise Initiative Award which recognises agencies whose officers have contributed useful ideas and/or suggestions to improve service delivery and reduce business compliance costs. These initiatives benefit both businesses and the agencies through costs and time savings, and help to strengthen the relationship between agencies and their business customers.


Happy Toilet Certification

The Happy Toilet certification is awarded by the Restroom Association of Singapore and it is a star-grading (from 3-star to 6-star) initiative for toilets which focuses on five main areas – Design, Cleanliness, Effectiveness, Maintenance and User Satisfaction. MPA has received a 4-star certification for its toilets on the 5 floors at PSA Building.

Corporate ISO Certification

MPA attained the Corporate ISO Certification. The ISO Standard provides a framework to define, establish, and maintain a quality assurance system. This certification is externally assessed to provide independent confirmation that organisations meet the requirements of ISO 9001.

Best Seaport in Asia Award

The Port of Singapore won the 'Best Seaport in Asia' award at the 28th Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) held in Shanghai on 17 Jun 2014.

Mr Andrew Tan, Chief Executive of Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said, "Singapore is honoured to receive the ‘Best Seaport in Asia' award. We will continue to invest in infrastructure and introduce initiatives to ensure that the Port of Singapore remains a premier global hub port and a preferred port of call, and at the same time advance the cause of sustainable development."

The Port of Singapore edged past strong contenders, the Port of Shanghai and Port of Shenzhen to clinch the ‘Best Seaport in Asia' award for the 26th time. The nominees were judged on a range of criteria, including cost competitiveness, container shipping-friendly fee regime, provision of suitable container shipping-related infrastructure, timely and adequate investment in new infrastructure to meet future demand and the facilitation of ancillary services.

Containerisation International 2013 Awards

On 24 October 2013, MPA was awarded the “Environmental Campaign of the Year” Award at the Containerisation International (CI) 2013 Awards for the Maritime Singapore Green Initiative. The awards ceremony was held at Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London.

In addition to this, MPA also received a High Commendation for the “Port of the Year” Award.

The CI Awards, organised by Informa plc, first started in 2011 to recognise companies and individuals that have made outstanding contributions in the maritime industry, either through being innovative, proactive and/or pioneering.

 

27th Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards 2013

Best Seaport in Asia Award

The Port of Singapore received the 'Best Seaport in Asia' award for the 25th time, at the 27th Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) held on 9 May 2013 in Beijing. Receiving the award on behalf of the Port of Singapore was Mr Chan Keng Nee, Deputy Director (Vessel Traffic Management) from MPA.

The Port of Singapore was recognised for her cost competitiveness, container shipping-friendly fee regime, provision of suitable container shipping-related infrastructure, timely and adequate investment in new infrastructure to meet future demand and the facilitation of ancillary services, including logistics and freight forwarding facilities.

A ‘Hall of Fame' award was also presented to the Port of Singapore for winning the ‘Best Seaport in Asia' award 25 times.

 

Singapore HEALTH Awards 2012

MPA has been awarded GOLD for the Singapore HEALTH Awards 2012

On 30 November 2012, MPA was awarded the gold award during the Singapore HEALTH Awards 2012, which was held at Raffles City Convention Centre.

The Singapore HEALTH (Helping Employees Achieve Life-Time Health) Award is presented by the Health Promotion Board to give recognition to organisations with commendable Workplace Health Promotion programmes.

 

Drop-In Centre of the Year 2012

Capt M Segar, Asst CE(Operations), MPA received the Drop-In Centre of the Year 2012 award
from Mr Koji Sekimizu, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organisation.

During the 2012 International Seafarers' Welfare Awards ceremony at the International Maritime Organisation in London, the International Drop-In Centre for Seafarers at Keppel Terminal, Port of Singapore was awarded the Drop-In Centre of the Year 2012. The International Committee on Seafarers’ Welfare (ICSW) Awards recognises excellence in the provision of welfare facilities and services for seafarers.

 

PEP-SBF Pro Enterprise Awards 2012

MPA clinched the top spot in the PEP-SBF Pro Enterprise Awards 2012. The PEP-SBF Pro Enterprise Awards 2012 is an inaugural awards event organized by the Pro-Enterprise Panel and the Singapore Business Federation, recognizing public agencies which have been assessed to be pro-enterprise by their customers based on the Pro-Enterprise Ranking Survey conducted annually since 2004. This year, 26 agencies participated in the 9th annual survey, which assesses government agencies with regulatory function on how business friendly they were.

Minister for Home Affairs Award

MPA was awarded the Minister for Home Affairs Award at the Home Team National Service Awards Presentation Ceremony 2012. A total of 10 National Service personnel from the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force and 54 companies received this year’s Home Team National Service Awards. Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Mr Teo Chee Hean, acknowledged the significant contributions and support of the NSmen and the employers, to the safety and security of Singapore at the award presentation ceremony.

Best Seaport in Asia Award

Best Green Service Provider - Seaport Award

The Port of Singapore cemented its status as Asia's port of choice by bagging the awards for the 'Best Seaport in Asia' and the 'Best Green Service Provider- Seaport' at the 26th edition of the Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA).

The 26th edition of the Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards was held today at the Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai. Receiving the award on behalf of the Port of Singapore was Capt Lee Cheng Wee, Port Master from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

 

Public Service Milestone Award

The Public Service Milestone Award was awarded to MPA for achieving the Singapore Quality Class (SQC), People Developer (PD) and ISO certification. Agencies which attain this cluster of the business excellence standards achieve a base level of excellence, marking a significant milestone in the start of their journey towards organisational excellence.

   

ACE Awards Ceremony 2011

MPA came out tops in the ACE Awards for pro-enterprise agencies, which is based on the annual survey commissioned by the Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) on the pro-enterprise orientation of regulatory agencies. This year’s survey assessed 26 government agencies by surveying the perceptions and expectations of businesses that had interacted with these agencies.

 

Minister's Innovation Award 2011

8 November 2011

The MPA team developed and implemented an innovative use of cement mixed soil and geo-textile tubes for the reclamation of Pasir Panjang Terminal Phases 3 and 4. They were credited the distinguished Minister's Innovation Award.

The MPA team was recognised  for the construction of mega structure (quay  wall) using concrete box caissons.

To promote clean and green shipping in Singapore, the MPA team supported  the Maritime Singapore Green Initiative that comprises the Green Ship Programme, Green Port Programme and Green Technology Programme to recognise and provide incentives to companies that adopt clean and green shipping practices over and above the minimum required by International Maritime Organization Conventions.

 

The MPA team implemented night signals for vessels crossing the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) and precautionary areas in the Singapore straits.

 

Minister for Home Affairs Award 2011

MPA was awarded the Minister for Home Affairs Award at the Home Team National Service Award Presentation Ceremony 2011. A total of 10 National Service personnel from the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force and 66 companies received this year’s Home Team National Service Awards. The Port of Singapore won the "Best Seaport in Asia" award at the 25th Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) 2011 held in Singapore. This is the 23rd Time that the Port of Singapore has received the award.

International Seafarers' Award 2010

Capt M Segar, Group Director (Hub Port), MPA, receives the Port of the Year award from IMO Secretary-General Mr Efthimios E. Mitropoulos.

The Port of Singapore received the ‘Port of the Year’ award at the International Seafarers’ Awards 2010 organised by the International Committee of Seafarers’ Welfare (ICSW). This award, jointly awarded to the Port of Barcelona and the Port of Singapore, is conferred to the port that has done the most for the provision and access to welfare services and facilities to seafarers.
 


Health Award 2010

MPA received the Gold Singapore HEALTH Award for 2010, having won the Silver award back in 2008.

The biennial Singapore HEALTH (Helping Employees Achieve Life-Time Health) Award is presented by the Health Promotion Board to give recognition to organisations with commendable Workplace Health Promotion programmes.

The MPA team behind the development of ‘Anchorage-view’: a real-time anchorage capacity, prediction and monitoring system. They were credited the distinguished Minister’s Innovation Award.

The team developed and implemented an innovative low-cost boardband system for maritime use that enables businesses to reduce operational cost, increase productivity and services through the adoption of automation and remote communications tools for the monitoring and tracking of assets and goods.

To improve shipyards’ productivity, the MPA team supported a project to devise a solution to facilitate business process flow management, project optimisation, and scheduling in the marine industry - particularly for shipyards based on the concept of Multi-Project Critical Chain management.

The MPA team was recognised for the environmental monitoring and management plan for the reclamation of Pasir Panjang terminal Phases 3 & 4.

 


ACE Pro-enterprise Award 2010

MPA came up to the top three in the annual pro-enterprise survey by the Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE), which measures the business-friendly orientation of regulatory agencies. The seventh annual survey commissioned by ACE saw government agencies turn in the best score since the survey's inception.

MPA was awarded the Port Authority Award at the Seatrade Asia Awards 2010, which was held during the 5th Singapore Maritime Week.  The Seatrade Asia Awards celebrates and rewards excellence and innovation in the maritime sector across the region. MPA was recognised for its contribution and commitment towards the development of the maritime sector, innovation and commitment to safety and quality, business enterprise and achievements, social and environmental responsibilities, as well as staff training and development initiatives.
 


Trade Conference of the Year Award

Singapore Maritime Week 2008 was named Trade Conference of the Year at the inaugural Singapore Experience Awards 2009. The Award recognises trade conferences and the organiser that have demonstrated excellence in organising and delivering a quality event in terms of business excellence, strategic value and service excellence. Organised by the Singapore Tourism Board, the Singapore Experience Awards honours the best individuals and organisations with the most outstanding and integrated Singapore experiences in the Singapore tourism industry.
 


ACE Pro-enterprise Award 2009

MPA clinched the top spot in the pro-enterprise index for the third year running. The index took into account areas such as compliance cost, review of rules, customer responsiveness, pro-enterprise orientation and transparency.

The May Day Model Partnership Award recognises institutions that went the extra mile to help workers ride through the tough times. The other partners were WDA (Workforce Development Agency) and SISEU (Singapore Industrial and Services Employees Union).

Minister’s Innovation Award

The team behind WISEPORT (Wireless broadband-access for SEaPORT) was credited the distinguished Minister’s Innovation Award.

The new Mobile WiMAX technology deployed under WISEPORT is the forefront of instituting broadband Internet within port waters for maritime businesses in Singapore.

As part of a Private Public Partnership (PPP) Initiative, MaritimeONE (Maritime Outreach Network) was awarded the Minister’s Innovation Award in recognition of the tripartite partnership comprising the maritime industry, institutes of higher learning (IHLs) and the government to promote better understanding of the maritime industry and the careers available.
