FOR COMPANIES, BUSINESSES AND INDIVIDUALS

ACTIVITY: SHORT COURSES

Scope

Who qualifies

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Employees sponsored by business entities/organisations registered or incorporated in Singapore. They must not be receiving any other form of financial assistance from another government body for the same course
  • Self-sponsored individuals may apply 
  • Attain at least 75% attendance at the course

How Much

  • Up to 90%1 of the course fee (excluding GST). Please refer to the course listings for more information.   
    1Enhancement of co-funding level valid between 1 June 2016 to 31 May 2018.

How to Apply

  • Sponsoring business entities of the participants and self-sponsored individuals must submit the MCF application form to the training service provider before the commencement of the course. 
  • The training service provider will submit a claim on behalf of sponsoring businesses and self-sponsored individuals upon completion of the course.

ACTIVITY: CERTIFIABLE COURSES

Scope

Who qualifies

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Employees sponsored by maritime business entities/organisations registered or incorporated in Singapore. They must not be receiving any other form of financial assistance from another government body for the same programme
  • Self-sponsored individuals may apply
  • Successfully complete the programme and awarded with certification

How Much

  • Up to 90%2 of the course fee/tuition fee (excluding GST), subject to a cap*        
    2 Enhancement of co-funding level valid between 1 June 2016 to 31 May 2018.

  • Application form must reach the MCF Secretariat at least 30 days prior to commencement of the programme

Other Information

  • Maritime executives who are company-sponsored or supported may be required to serve the sponsoring company/maritime industry for a specified period

ACTIVITY: IN-HOUSE COURSES

Scope

  • Sponsoring companies or employers applying for funding support must be maritime-related entities registered or incorporated in Singapore. They must not be receiving any other form of financial assistance from another government body for the same programme
  • Training programme must be well-structured and enable trainees to gain knowledge and experience in maritime businesses
  • Training programme should be instructor-led/classroom lectures conducted in Singapore
  • At least 25% of the trainees must be Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • NEW! With effect from 1 Feb 2017, IT skills, data analytics, green technology (with maritime application) and soft skill courses will be supportable. 

How long

  • Locally Based Trainer: at least 1 day
  • Overseas Based Trainer: 3 working days to 6 months

How Much

  • Locally Based Trainer: 70% of qualifying costs i.e. professional fees, subject to a cap*
  • Overseas Based Trainer: 70% of qualifying costs i.e. professional fees, economy return airfare and subsistence allowance, subject to a cap*

*Funding cap is an MPA internal guideline and may be updated at MPA's discretion.


APPROVAL AND REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES

Approval is subjected to the fulfillment of all eligibility criteria. MPA reserves the right to reject any application in the event of failure from participants/businesses to comply or observe any of the eligibility criteria.

Training Grant will be disbursed on a reimbursement basis to sponsoring businesses upon completion of course and submission of all supporting documents no later than 1 month after completion of the course.  

FOR TRAINING SERVICE PROVIDERS

GUIDE FOR PRE-APPROVAL OF COURSES

Who can Apply

Training Services Providers (TSPs) conducting maritime-related courses, seminars and conferences in Singapore

NEW! With effect from 1 Feb 2017, IT skills, data analytics, green technology (with maritime application) and soft skill courses will be supportable. Only maritime company-sponsored employees are eligible for funding. 

Scope of Training Programme

  • Training programme must be well-structured i.e. with lesson plans/daily activities and specific performance objectives
  • Training programme must be conducted in Singapore
  • Training programme have not commenced at the point of application
  • Orientation and induction programmes are not supportable 

How to Apply

TSPs will be required to write in to the MCF Secretariat with details of the training programme


TRAINING GRANT CLAIM

The MCF training grant will be disbursed on a reimbursement basis upon completion of each training programme. TSP will be required to submit a training grant claim on behalf of all sponsoring companies and self-sponsored individuals, no later than 1 month after completion of the course/training programme or award of the relevant certification. TSPs are advised to read the qualifying terms and conditions for the training grant and the administrative guideline here.
