Applying for follow-up Inspection

Vessels detained due to serious deficiencies are to ensure that these deficiencies are satisfactorily rectified and apply for a follow-up Port State Control (PSC) inspection before they can be allowed to depart.

The following 9 Recognised Organisations are currently authorized by MPA for the conduct of follow-up inspection arising from PSC detention in Singapore:

  • American Bureau of Shipping (ABS)
  • Bureau Veritas (BV)
  • China Classification Society (CCS)
  • Det Norske Veritas (DNV)
  • Germanischer Lloyd (GL)
  • Korean Register of Shipping (KR)
  • Lloyd’s Register (LR)
  • Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK)
  • Registro Italiano Navale (RINA)

Vessels classed under any of these Recognised Organisations may appoint them to conduct a follow-up inspection. Completed inspection reports by the above Recognised Organisations carrying out the follow-up inspections are to be submitted to the Port State Control Section, Ship Safety Department of the Shipping Division for further review and acceptance before the vessels can be released from detention. Vessels which are not classed under any of the above 9 Recognised Organisations will be required to make an application for a follow-up inspection by MPA.
