Seminar on the Implementation of the Amendment 2014 to the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 in China

MPA participated in the China-ASEAN Seminar on Implementation of the Amendment 2014 to Maritime Labour Convention 2006, 10 - 11 Oct 2018, held in Guangzhou, China. The seminar was hosted by the China Maritime Safety Administration, People's Republic of China.
The seminar covered the key items of the 2014 amendments to the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, which included the insurance requirements on (i) shipowners' liabilities in the event that seafarers are abandoned by the shipowner and (ii) work injury compensation. These 2014 amendments entered into force on 18 January 2017 and have been fully implemented by Singapore. Topics discussed also included government and shipowners' responsibilities, as well as P&I clubs' practices and case studies on the 2014 amendments to the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006.
