FOR COMPANIES AND BUSINESSES

 

ACTIVITY: SHORT COURSES

Scope

Who qualifies

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Employees sponsored by business entities/organisations registered or incorporated in Singapore. They must not be receiving any other form of financial assistance from another government body for the same course
  • Attain at least 75% attendance at the course

How Much

  • 50% of the course fee (excluding GST)

How to Apply

  • Sponsoring business entities of the participants must submit the MCF application form to the Training Service Provider before the commencement of the course
  • The training service provider will submit a claim on behalf of sponsoring businesses upon completion of the course

 

ACTIVITY: CERTIFIABLE COURSES

Scope

Who qualifies

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Employees sponsored by maritime-related business entities/organisations registered or incorporated in Singapore. They must not be receiving any other form of financial assistance from another government body for the same programme
  • Individuals who are self-sponsored may apply, provided they have a letter of support or recommendation from employer
  • Successfully completed the programme and awarded with certification

How Much

  • 60% of the course fee/tuition fee (excluding GST), subject to a cap
  • Other qualifying expenses may be supported for certain programmes

How to Apply

  • Application form must reach the MCF Secretariat at least 30 days prior to commencement of the programme

Other Information

  • Participants will be required to serve the sponsoring company/maritime industry for a specified period

 

ACTIVITY: IN-HOUSE COURSES

Scope

  • Sponsoring companies or employers applying for funding support must be maritime-related entities registered or incorporated in Singapore. They must not be receiving any other form of financial assistance from another government body for the same programme
  • Training programme must be well-structured and enable trainees to gain knowldge and experience in maritime businesses relating to sectors covered under the Maritime Cluster Fund
  • Training programme should be instructor-led/classroom lectures or instructor-guided hands-on course conducted in Singapore
  • A proportion of the trainees must be Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents

How long

  • Locally Based Trainer: at least one day
  • Overseas Based Trainer: five working days to six months

How Much

  • Locally Based Trainer: 30% of qualifying costs i.e. professional fees, subject to a cap
  • Overseas Based Trainer: 50% of qualifying costs i.e. professional fees, economy return airfare and subsistence allowance, subject to a cap

APPROVAL AND REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES

Approval is subjected to the fulfillment of all eligibility criteria. MPA reserves the right to reject any application in the event of failure from participants/businesses to comply or observe any of the eligibility criteria.

Training Grant will be disbursed on a reimbursement basis to sponsoring businesses upon completion of course and submission of all supporting documents within one month of completion of the course.

 

FOR TRAINING SERVICE PROVIDERS

 

GUIDE FOR PRE-APPROVAL OF COURSES

Who can Apply

Training Services Providers (TSPs) conducting maritime-related courses, seminars and conferences in Singapore

Scope of Training Programme

  • Training programme must be well-structured i.e. with lesson plans/daily activities and specific performance objectives
  • Training programme must be conducted in Singapore
  • Training programme have not commenced at the point of application
  • Orientation, induction, generic management , leadership, personal management courses are not supportable

How to Apply

TSPs will be required to write in to the MCF Secretariat with details of the training programme

 

TRAINING GRANT CLAIM

The MCF training grant will be disbursed on a reimbursement basis upon completion of each training programme. TSPs will be required to submit a training grant claim on behalf of all sponsoring companies based on the numbers of eligible participants, no later than three months after completion of the course/training programme or award of the relevant certification. TSPs are advised to read the qualifying terms and condictions for the training grant and the administrative guideline here.
