No. 18 of 2009
12-05-2009
Applicable to: This circular should be brought to the attention of classification societies, shipowners, managers, operators and masters of Singapore-registered ships.
1 In 2005, The Facilitation (FAL) Committee of IMO developed a general list of certificates and documents required to be carried on board ships together with a brief description of the purpose of the certificates and other relevant documents. A shipping circular, No. 14 of 2005 dated 18 March 2005, was issued based on the FAL list, with additional specific carriage requirements for Singapore flag ships. Since then, a number of new certificates and documents have been introduced as a result of amendments to mandatory instruments or new conventions.
2 For the guidance of shipowners, the Annex to this circular is an updated list of the certificates, documents and publications required to be carried on board Singapore-registered ships, together with extracts of the regulatory text from the source instruments. Applicability and application dates may vary according to the size and date built of vessels.
3 This circular supersedes Shipping Circular No. 14 of 2005 (Revised List of certificates, documents and publications required to be carried on Singapore ships).
4 Any queries relating to this circular should be directed to Mr Ong Hua Siong (Tel: 6375 6210).
