Singapore is reputed for its quality Ship Registry, which is administered by MPA. Established in 1966 under the Merchant Shipping Act, the Singapore Registry of Ships (SRS) ranks among the top ten largest registries in the world with more than 3,000 registered vessels, totalling in excess of 30 million gross tons.
The SRS is internationally recognised for its efficient services, high operational and pollution control standards, and good safety record. It is the preferred choice of flag for many international ship owners. Its continuous expansion is a catalyst for the growth of Singapore as an international maritime centre.
This section covers information on how to register a ship under the Singapore flag, as well as guidelines, procedures and requirements for shipowners and masters of Singapore-registered ships.
