AMENDMENT OF FREQUENCY RANGE(S) IN SHIP STATION LICENCE
1. This circular informs the shipping community on the circular issued by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (“IMDA”) on amendment of frequency range(s) for Ship Station Licence.
2. The shipping community is to take note of the effective date of amendment and the actions required as provided in paragraph 4 of the circular issued by the IMDA, as attached.

AMENDMENT OF FREQUENCY RANGE(S) IN SHIP STATION LICENCE
The Ship Station licence issued by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (“IMDA”) is in accordance with i) the Radio Regulations of the International Telecommunication Union (“ITU”), and ii) the Telecommunications (Radio-communication) Regulations.
2 Under the ITU Radio Regulations, the use of the frequency bands 457.5125 – 457.5875 MHz and 467.5125 – 467.5875 MHz by the maritime mobile service is limited to onboard communication stations. The characteristics of the equipment and the channelling arrangement shall be in accordance with Recommendation ITU-R M1174-3 (Annex 1). The use of these frequency bands in territorial water is subject to the national regulations of the administration concerned.
3 On 15 February 2020, the frequency range of 450 – 470 MHz in the Ship Station licence was amended to 457.5125 – 457.6000 MHz and 467.5125 – 467.6000 MHz. However, IMDA noted that the correct frequency range should be 457.5125 – 457.5875 MHz and 467.5125 – 467.5875 MHz instead.
4. IMDA would like to inform the Shipping Community that the existing frequency range from 457.5125 – 457.6000 MHz and 467.5125 – 467.6000 MHz indicated in the Ship Station licence will be amended to 457.5125 – 457.5875 MHz and 467.5125 – 467.5875 MHz with maximum power of 2 Werp. New Ship Station licence will be issued with the updated frequency range starting 10 December 2021 whereas Ship Station licence issued or renewed before 10 December 2021, licensee is to download a copy of the updated Ship Station licence after 15 December 2021. The Ship Station Licence can be downloaded via GoBusiness Licensing portal at URL: https://www.gobusiness.gov.sg/licences.
5. Ship owners are advised to disseminate the above information to personnel involved in operating the ship radio station for compliance.
