Collision Involving Singapore-registered Container Vessel in Guangzhou, China

On 26 October 2025, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) was informed that there was a collision between a Singapore-registered container vessel, WAN HAI A17, and a Chinese-registered vessel, HAI LI 5, in waters off Guangzhou, China.
2. The incident occurred on 25 October 2025 at about 8PM (Singapore time).
3. According to information provided by Wan Hai Lines, WAN HAI A17 remains in stable condition with no injuries reported among its 23 crew members. No pollution has been reported.
4. It was reported that HAI LI 5 had sunk, and the Chinese authorities are conducting search and rescue operations. MPA has been informed that two of the 15 crew members remain missing.
5. WAN HAI A17 is currently being held in port to assist the Chinese authorities in their investigations.
6. MPA is in contact with Wan Hai Lines and the Chinese authorities to provide assistance, as needed.
7. MPA will also be investigating the incident.
