1.This circular informs the Shipping Community of the draft amendments to mandatory instruments approved by1MSC 83 (3-12 Oct 2007) and MSC 84 (7-16 May 2008), with a view to adoption at MSC 85 in Nov/Dec 2008.
2.As part of MPA's public consultation effort, the Shipping Community is invited to provide comments to MPA for consideration. Comments should be in writing and submitted to MPA by 8 Aug 20081to:

3.The draft amendments relate to:
1).chapters II-1, II-2, VI, VII, IX, XI-2 and XII of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 (SOLAS 74), as amended;
2).the International Code for the Safe Carriage of Packaged Irradiated Nuclear Fuel, Plutonium and High-Level Radioactive Wastes on Board Ships (INF Code), as amended;
3).the International Code of Safety for High-Speed Craft, 2000 (2000 HSC Code), as amended;
4).the International Life-Saving Appliance Code (LSA Code), as amended;
5).the International Safety Management Code (ISM Code), as amended;
6).the Protocol of 1988 relating to the International Convention on Load Lines, 1966 (LL 88), as amended;
7).draft MSC resolution on the adoption of the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code; and
8).draft MSC resolution on the adoption of the International Code on Intact Stability, 2008 (2008 IS Code).
