Minister for Transport Mr Lui Tuck Yew to Lead the Singapore Delegation to the 28th Regular session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly


Minister for Transport Mr Lui Tuck Yew will make a working visit to London from 24 to 29 November 2013. He will be leading the Singapore delegation to the 28th Regular Session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly which will be held at the IMO Headquarters in London.

At the IMO Assembly, which meets biennially, transport ministers and senior maritime officials from around the world will address various maritime policy and regulatory issues. The Assembly will also hold an election for the 40-member Council of the IMO.(1) Singapore has had the honour of serving on the Council since first being elected in 1993. Singapore will be seeking re-election at this upcoming Assembly session.

During his visit to London, Minister Lui will meet with the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Transport Mr Patrick McLoughlin and his transport counterparts from other IMO Member States, as well as the IMO's Secretary-General, Mr Koji Sekimizu and other senior IMO officials. He will also take the opportunity to meet transport organisations in London and during a side visit to Paris, to discuss land and other transport issues and developments.

Minister Lui will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Transport, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, and the Land Transport Authority.
