Nominations for Singapore International Maritime Awards (IMA) 2019 now Open

13 September 2018

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is calling for nominations for the 2019 edition of the Singapore International Maritime Awards (IMA). The biennial IMA recognises individuals and companies for their outstanding contributions to Singapore as a premier global hub port and a leading international maritime centre.

2   The maritime community is invited to nominate deserving candidates and companies in the following seven categories by 14 December 2018.  The nomination forms and assessment criteria for IMA 2019 are available here. IMA 2019 will feature seven award categories (Annex A), and they are:
i) International Maritime Centre Award (Corporate / Individual)
ii) Excellence in Manpower Training and Development Award
iii) Outstanding Maritime R&D and Technology Award
iv) SRS Ship Owner of the Year Award
v) Bunker Award
vi) Maritime Service Provider Award
vii) Offshore & Marine Engineering Award

3    IMA 2019 will also be presenting the SRS Green Ship of the Year Award which recognises quality Singapore-registered ships with energy-efficient ship designs. This category will be evaluated and awarded based on the International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and/or other additional energy-efficient measures, such as the use of abatement technologies and alternative fuels.

4    “Singapore’s development as a leading international maritime centre would not have been possible without the strong support of the maritime community. IMA, an anchor event of MPA’s Singapore Maritime Week, is a recognition of the individuals and companies that have contributed significantly to Singapore’s twin engines of maritime growth – our hub port and international maritime centre.  Next year will be of special significance as Singapore commemorates the nation’s bicentennial milestone,” said Mr Andrew Tan, Chief Executive of MPA.

5    IMA 2019 will be held in conjunction with the 14th Singapore Maritime Week (SMW), which will be held from 6 to 12 April 2019.
