Search and Rescue Operation

At about 1930hrs on 16 January 2014 (Singapore time), the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) received a report that a man had fallen overboard from the Singapore-flagged passenger ferry "Asean Raider 2" about 4km South East of Kusu Island in the Singapore Strait. The ferry was en-route from Singapore's Regional Ferry Terminal (Harbour Front), to Batu Ampar, Batam, Indonesia.

MPA is coordinating the Search and Rescue (SAR) operations involving two MPA craft, one Police Coast Guard craft and one Republic of Singapore Navy patrol vessel. MPA has issued urgent safety broadcast to vessels in the vicinity to keep a lookout and report any sightings of the missing person.
