From upcycling workshops transforming beach waste into everyday items, to engaging performances by Young Nautilus and Far Eastern Kindergarten, discover how we can protect our marine environment together. Hear from marine biologist Sam Shu Qin about Singapore's marine ecosystem and plastic pollution challenges.

Event Highlights:

Recycling Workshop - 10am to 5pm

The workshop stems from a collaborative beach clean-up with port partners PSA and Jurong Port on 11 Sept, where collected marine litter will be repurposed through innovative recycling methods. Join Green Nudge as they guide you in transforming marine plastic into practical everyday items including key chains, rulers, coasters, and carabiners. Experience firsthand how marine waste can be given new life and learn about sustainable solutions for ocean conservation.

Expert Talk - 2pm to 3pm

Meet marine biologist Sam Shu Qin, co-founder of Our Singapore Reefs and Our Blue Spaces, as she shares insights about Singapore's marine ecosystem and the impact of plastic pollution.

Featured Screenings:

  • Episode 2: "Giants of the Deep"

In the Azores, the team follows the elusive sperm whales to its hunting grounds a mile beneath the surface, where they discover the secret lives of these seep-diving whales. State-of-the-art camera systems and the Oceanxplorer's submersibles explore this world of eternal darkness, capturing the whale's main prey - an enormous squid, never filmed before in these Atlantic waters.

  • Episode 4: "Hammerhead Highway"

The team is in the crystal-clear waters of Bimini in the Bahamas to witness the incredible journey of the great hammerhead shark, As the team follows their return migration to these warm waters int he winter, they discover the secrets of how they navigate the vast ocean and how they use their incredible senses to exploit riches hidden in the shallows.

  • Your own food/snacks: Feel free to bring along your favourite treats to enjoy during the screening. Please ensure food items will not spill, stain, or damage the gallery floor.
  • Your own container and utensils: We'll be providing some light snacks, so please bring your own reusable container and utensils to enjoy these refreshments.
  • Your own camping chairs: You will be seated on the floor for the movie screening. Please bring along your own camping chairs if you would prefer more comfortable seating.
