All 30 persons rescued from capsized craft in Singapore Maritime Search and Rescue Region

1.    On 20 May 2025 at 0720hrs (Singapore Time), the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Singapore operated by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), received information from Hong Kong-registered containership COSCO DEVELOPMENT of an Indonesia-registered craft FACIFIC MEMORY II that had capsized with persons in the water, about 14.6 nautical miles north-east of Pedra Branca, within the Singapore Maritime Search and Rescue Region.

2.    MRCC Singapore coordinated the search and rescue operation and immediately issued navigational broadcasts for vessels in the vicinity to render assistance, as well as alerted Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency BASARNAS and MRCC Malaysia.

3.    MRCC Singapore directed the Liberia-registered bulk carrier ANDROS SPIRIT to rescue the persons in the water. The vessel arrived on scene shortly and successfully rescued all 30 persons from the water that were on board FACIFIC MEMORY II. No Singaporeans were involved in the incident.

4.    ANDROS SPIRIT will be disembarking the rescued persons at Batam, Indonesia.
