Clarification on report 'Indonesia detains 2 Singapore-flagged boats off Batam'
With reference to the report 'Indonesia detains 2 Singapore-flagged boats off Batam' published in The Straits Times on 11 March 2015, we have issued the following clarifications to the Straits Times.
1. The article stated that two Singapore-flagged vessels 'Vessel BT ASL Glory and an accompanying barge BG AST 183 were detained on Sunday.' We wish to clarify that 'ASL Glory' is Singapore-registered while the barge 'AST 1837' is not.
2. The article stated that 'Eight crew members, one of them a Singaporean, were detained and later released, except for the Indonesian captain.' We wish to clarify that there was no Singaporean onboard.
3. The article stated that 'Last Thursday, two Singapore-registered boats were caught escorting a tanker travelling through Indonesian waters in the Malacca Strait.' We wish to clarify that of the two cited vessels, the 'DM 55' is a Singapore-registered supply vessel while 'Sea Sparrow 1' is not.
