The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) had earlier reported a fire onboard a Tanzania-flagged freighter, LAYAR ANGGUN 8 (LA8), in Singapore territorial waters off Pedra Branca.

2.   The 12 crew that were safely recovered by the Singapore Police Coast Guard comprise 11 Indonesian and one Bangladeshi crew.

3.   The vessel is currently stationary off Tanjung Berakit, in Indonesian waters. MPA has alerted the relevant Indonesian authorities.
