It was also reported that the 13 Indonesian crewmembers onboard had abandoned the craft.
The MPA immediately deployed 2 patrol craft and 2 firefighting craft to rescue the crewmembers and to put out the fire.
Ten of the crewmembers were rescued. Of the rescued crew, 1 was uninjured while 9 others who were injured were sent to the Changi General Hospital (CGH). Seven of the injured crewmembers were given outpatient treatment at CGH. The remaining 2 injured crewmembers were subsequently transferred to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) for treatment of their burns.
The MPA is conducting search and rescue operations for 3 missing crewmembers.
After the fire was put out, the craft was towed into port where it subsequently anchored in shallow waters, north of Changi General Purpose Anchorage at about 0455hrs. At about 0625hrs, the wooden craft sank at the position where it was anchored. There was no report of any oil pollution. The MPA is investigating the incident.
