New Online Bunkering Service in the Singapore Maritime Portal
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) will be launching a new bunkering service on the Singapore Maritime Portal (SMP) from 1 Aug 2001 as part of its continual efforts to enhance bunkering services in the Port of Singapore.
With the new service, the shipping community will be able to access bunkering information online. The information to be provided by the SMP will include profiles of the bunker suppliers, their operational resources, products offered and indicative bunker prices for the various grades of products. More than 40 local bunker suppliers will be posting their information on the SMP, which would be updated on a regular basis.
With this new initiative, the MPA aims to help bunker suppliers in Singapore to reach out to the global market. This service will provide the international shipping community with speedy and convenient access to useful bunkering information, which would help in their decision-making.
The SMP is an Internet-based gateway to provide one-stop access to information services for the global maritime industry. Information such as shipping schedules, port statistics and a directory of marine-related companies are available on the website. The SMP website address is : www.singaporemaritimeportal.com.
