MPA 25th anniversary
Twenty-five years ago on 2 February 1996, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) was formed through the merger of the Marine Department, National Maritime Board and regulatory departments of then-Port of Singapore Authority. MPA’s mandate today remains unchanged - to develop Singapore as a global hub port and international maritime centre and to advance Singapore’s maritime interests.
MPA is commemorating its 25th anniversary with several initiatives.
The Voyage Exhibition
MPA presents “The Voyage”, a special exhibition that showcases MPA’s accomplishments and gamechangers in the Singapore maritime industry spanning the last 25 years.

- then-vs-now exhibits
- an interactive zone where visitors can discover how MPA and industry players will resolve the challenges in the future ahead of us
For families with young children, “The Voyage” also offers learning opportunities through a fun and engaging activity booklet for young, inquisitive minds to explore our journey to be the leading global hub port today.
The exhibition is held at the Singapore Maritime Gallery from Tuesdays to Sundays till 31 March 2022. Admission is free.

Anchor of Our Nation
||Published to mark 25 years of MPA’s history, Anchor of Our Nation is a commemorative publication that charts Singapore’s journey from its origins to its status today as a leading global hub port and an international maritime centre. Supplemented with rich archival material and interviews with MPA pioneers, leaders, staff and industry partners, the book encapsulates MPA’s rich heritage, unwavering leadership and determined efforts through the years to build Maritime Singapore that we have today.
Singapore Registry of Ships (SRS) annual Forum and 55th Anniversary celebrations
Formed in 1966, the Singapore Registry of Ships (SRS) is celebrating its 55th anniversary this year with its annual SRS Forum. The Forum is a platform to exchange views and insights on current issues, opportunities and challenges faced by the maritime industry. The theme for SRS Forum this year is “Your Partner in Quality and Sustainable Shipping”. The event is targeted at senior management and representatives of shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, classification societies, maritime insurance, law firms, academia and government agencies.
The event was held on 8 October in a hybrid format at Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore.
Completion of Tuas Port Phase 1 Reclamation
The development of Tuas Port is a testament to Singapore’s commitment to sustain its lead as a global maritime nation. Developed in four phases, the Phase 1 reclamation works is scheduled to be completed by end of this year after commencing work in February 2015.
MPA will be organising an event to mark this occasion to thank everyone who has contributed to this major milestone.
