Mr Tan Hoe Soon, Assistant Chief Executive (Corporate), MPA received the award on behalf of MPA
MPA is honoured to receive the Pro-Enterprise Survey (PES) Recognition Award at the Pro-Enterprise Panel – Singapore Business Federation (PEP-SBF) Awards event.
The PES Recognition Award recognises Government Agencies that have achieved good results in the biennial Pro-Enterprise Survey. These are agencies who had received exceptional feedback from businesses on their pro-enterprise orientation.


MPA clinched the Gold Award for “Excellence in CSR Strategy” and Silver Award for “Excellence in Leadership Development” at the HR Excellence Awards 2021 virtual award ceremony.

Mr Ong Siew Gay, Consul-General of the Singapore Consulate-General in Hong Kong, accepted the award on MPA’s behalf.

Ms Quah Ley Hoon, Chief Executive, MPA received the Innovation Excellence Award from Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister (Trade and Industry).
MPA was conferred the Innovation Excellence Award at the 25th Business Excellence Awards Dinner. Winning this award affirms MPA's innovation capabilities in driving maritime transformation. It is also testament to the robust partnerships we have forged with key stakeholders such as port operators, industry assocations, companies, research institutes such as Singapore Maritime Institute, IHLs, unions and Singapore Maritime Foundation over the years to build a thriving maritime eco-system.
International Seafarers' Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN)

The Port of Singapore was named Port of the Year at the ISWAN Awards ceremony held as part of London International Shipping Week. MPA works closely with partners in welfare services to ensure seafarers can maximise their time in port, including jointly developing an on-demand bus service. MPA organises learning tours to offer seafarers with limited time the chance to visit places of interest in Singapore and provides 24/7 medical advice and evacuation for seafarers requiring immediate attention.

Singapore has been crowned the “Best Seaport - Asia” for the 31st time at the 2019 Asia Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS) ceremony held in Hong Kong on 17 June 2019. In addition, the Port of Singapore was also named the “Best Green Seaport".

The International Best Practice Award Competition (IBPC) are supported by the Global Benchmarking Network to encourage the sharing of work practices to help organisations to quickly raise their performance and improve business results. MPA was awarded Top 10 Best Practices for the project on Accelerating Innovation in the Maritime Industry through the MPA Living Lab.
Green Ports Award System (GPAS) Award

The APEC Port Services Network (APSN) launched the Green Ports Award System (GPAS) in 2016 to recognise port operators and administrations who are making substantive efforts to contribute to a more sustainable port development environment. One of the objectives of the APSN is to promote green and sustainable development amongst the APEC port economies. The GPAS Award is the only such award for ports in Asia. MPA is proud to be amongst the nine recipients of the 2018 edition of the GPAS award.

The IIA are held biennially with the 2018 Awards taking place in Georgetown, Guyana. We are proud that MPA’s project on “SAFER: Sensemaking Analytics For maritime Event Recognition” under the category of Innovation Incubation is one of three finalist in the CAPAM IIA programme.

Chief Executive of MPA, Mr. Andrew Tan, was honoured as the New Silk Road CEO of the Year Award 2018 in the Port category. He was one of two recipients of this award this year. The New Silk Road CEO of the Year Award recognises distinguished industry leaders for the advancement of the international energy industry’s interconnectivity across Asia to the Middle East.

MPA won the Best Public Sector Service award at the 2018 Sustainable Business Awards (SBA), the region’s leading sustainability awards organised by event company Global Initiatives in partnership with PwC. MPA’s award recognises the significant progress that MPA has made on its sustainability initiatives over the years, embedded on close stakeholder partnership. MPA also began anchoring its initiatives and future development plans to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in 2017 in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Singapore has been crowned the “Best Seaport in Asia” for the 30th time at the 2018 Asia Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS) ceremony held in Shanghai on 15 May 2018. The Port of Singapore clinched the award for its leading performance on a range of criteria, including cost competitiveness, container shipping-friendliness of the fee regime, provision of suitable container shipping-related infrastructure, timely and adequate investment in new infrastructure to meet future demand and facilitation of ancillary services.

The Green4Sea Awards is an international environment award, which foster Environmental Excellence and Sustainable Shipping. MPA won the Green4Sea Award (Port Category). Port of Singapore was nominated for focusing on four key areas for port development: Safe and Secure Port, Efficient Port, Intelligent Port, and Clean and Sustainable Port. MPA is also recognised for our efforts in encouraging the use of LNG as a marine fuel in Singapore and for making the use of MFM mandatory.

It was MPA's first international award for sustainability.

MPA’s 20th anniversary commemorative book entitled “Past.Present.In Progress.Future” won the Award of Excellence at the international 23rd Annual Communicator Awards (2017) under the ‘Annual Report - General Corporation/Business’ category. The Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program recognizing big ideas in marketing and communications and with over 6,000 entries from companies and agencies of all sizes, it is one of the largest awards of its kind in the world. The Award of Excellence, the highest honour, is given to those entrants whose ability to communicate positions them as the best in the field.

The 5th International Best Practice Competition (IBPC) was held in Mumbai, India from 25-26 Apr 2017. For the first time, IBPC introduced a new award called the “IBPC Organisation-Wide Innovation Award”. This award recognises organisations that embraced best practice learning and combined this learning with their own ideas and creativity to become highly innovative and exceled in inculcating an innovation culture throughout all facets of their operation from the leadership to employees and covering all stakeholders leading to innovative processes, products and services.

The Pasir Panjang Terminal Phases 3 & 4 development was shortlisted by a panel comprising judges from both the public and private sector and voted by members of the public into “Singapore’s Top 50 Engineering Achievements.” The results were announced at IES’ Golden Jubilee celebrations graced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at a gala on 1 July 2016. The Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards programme (AREA) recognises and honors Asian businesses for championing sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship in the six categories, namely Green Leadership, Investment in People, Health Promotion, Social Empowerment, SME CSR and Responsible Business Leadership. This year 59 organisations were recognised for their responsible entrepreneurial achievements. MPA is proud to announce that we have emerged as one of the winners for the Green Leadership category with the project on Coral relocation and Tuas Reclamation project.

Eco-Office Re-certification

MPA has successfully achieved the Eco-Office certification for all 3 MPA office locations (PSAB, TPC and POCC Vista). The certification is awarded by the Singapore Environment Council and its objective is to raise awareness and cultivate environment-friendly habits within the workplace.
Happy Toilet Re-certification

The Happy Toilet certification is awarded by the Restroom Association of Singapore and it is a star-grading (from 3-star to 6-star) initiative for toilets which focuses on five main areas – Design, Cleanliness, Effectiveness, Maintenance and User Satisfaction. MPA has received a 5-star certification for all its toilets.

The Pro-Enterprise Panel - Singapore Business Federation (PEP-SBF) Awards 2014 recognises the efforts of government agencies in their commitment to stay pro-enterprise as well as the contributions of businesses in providing useful feedback and suggestions to improve the business environment. This year, MPA emerged top again in the survey for the third consecutive time.
MPA also received the Silver Public Sector Pro-Enterprise Initiative Award which recognises agencies whose officers have contributed useful ideas and/or suggestions to improve service delivery and reduce business compliance costs. These initiatives benefit both businesses and the agencies through costs and time savings, and help to strengthen the relationship between agencies and their business customers.

The Happy Toilet certification is awarded by the Restroom Association of Singapore and it is a star-grading (from 3-star to 6-star) initiative for toilets which focuses on five main areas – Design, Cleanliness, Effectiveness, Maintenance and User Satisfaction. MPA has received a 4-star certification for its toilets on the 5 floors at PSA Building.

Corporate ISO Certification

MPA attained the Corporate ISO Certification. The ISO Standard provides a framework to define, establish, and maintain a quality assurance system. This certification is externally assessed to provide independent confirmation that organisations meet the requirements of ISO 9001.

The Port of Singapore won the 'Best Seaport in Asia' award at the 28th Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) held in Shanghai on 17 Jun 2014.
Mr Andrew Tan, Chief Executive of Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said, "Singapore is honoured to receive the ‘Best Seaport in Asia' award. The Port of Singapore edged past strong contenders, the Port of Shanghai and Port of Shenzhen to clinch the ‘Best Seaport in Asia' award for the 26th time. The nominees were judged on a range of criteria, including cost competitiveness, container shipping-friendly fee regime, provision of suitable container shipping-related infrastructure, timely and adequate investment in new infrastructure to meet future demand and the facilitation of ancillary services.
Containerisation International 2013 Awards

On 24 October 2013, MPA was awarded the “Environmental Campaign of the Year” Award at the Containerisation International (CI) 2013 Awards for the Maritime Singapore Green Initiative. The awards ceremony was held at Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London.
In addition to this, MPA also received a High Commendation for the “Port of the Year” Award.
The CI Awards, organised by Informa plc, first started in 2011 to recognise companies and individuals that have made outstanding contributions in the maritime industry, either through being innovative, proactive and/or pioneering.

Best Seaport in Asia Award
The Port of Singapore received the 'Best Seaport in Asia' award for the 25th time, at the 27th Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) held on 9 May 2013 in Beijing. Receiving the award on behalf of the Port of Singapore was Mr Chan Keng Nee, Deputy Director (Vessel Traffic Management) from MPA.
The Port of Singapore was recognised for her cost competitiveness, container shipping-friendly fee regime, provision of suitable container shipping-related infrastructure, timely and adequate investment in new infrastructure to meet future demand and the facilitation of ancillary services, including logistics and freight forwarding facilities.
A ‘Hall of Fame' award was also presented to the Port of Singapore for winning the ‘Best Seaport in Asia' award 25 times.

MPA has been awarded GOLD for the Singapore HEALTH Awards 2012
On 30 November 2012, MPA was awarded the gold award during the Singapore HEALTH Awards 2012, which was held at Raffles City Convention Centre.
The Singapore HEALTH (Helping Employees Achieve Life-Time Health) Award is presented by the Health Promotion Board to give recognition to organisations with commendable Workplace Health Promotion programmes.

During the 2012 International Seafarers' Welfare Awards ceremony at the International Maritime Organisation in London, the International Drop-In Centre for Seafarers at Keppel Terminal, Port of Singapore was awarded the Drop-In Centre of the Year 2012. The International Committee on Seafarers’ Welfare (ICSW) Awards recognises excellence in the provision of welfare facilities and services for seafarers.

MPA clinched the top spot in the PEP-SBF Pro Enterprise Awards 2012. The PEP-SBF Pro Enterprise Awards 2012 is an inaugural awards event organized by the Pro-Enterprise Panel and the Singapore Business Federation, recognizing public agencies which have been assessed to be pro-enterprise by their customers based on the Pro-Enterprise Ranking Survey conducted annually since 2004. This year, 26 agencies participated in the 9th annual survey, which assesses government agencies with regulatory function on how business friendly they were.

MPA was awarded the Minister for Home Affairs Award at the Home Team National Service Awards Presentation Ceremony 2012. A total of 10 National Service personnel from the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force and 54 companies received this year’s Home Team National Service Awards. Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Mr Teo Chee Hean, acknowledged the significant contributions and support of the NSmen and the employers, to the safety and security of Singapore at the award presentation ceremony.

The Port of Singapore cemented its status as Asia's port of choice by bagging the awards for the 'Best Seaport in Asia' and the 'Best Green Service Provider- Seaport' at the 26th edition of the Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA).
The 26th edition of the Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards was held today at the Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai. Receiving the award on behalf of the Port of Singapore was Capt Lee Cheng Wee, Port Master from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

ACE Awards Ceremony 2011

MPA came out tops in the ACE Awards for pro-enterprise agencies, which is based on the annual survey commissioned by the Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) on the pro-enterprise orientation of regulatory agencies. This year’s survey assessed 26 government agencies by surveying the perceptions and expectations of businesses that had interacted with these agencies.
Minister's Innovation Award 2011

The MPA team developed and implemented an innovative use of cement mixed soil and geo-textile tubes for the reclamation of Pasir Panjang Terminal Phases 3 and 4. They were credited the distinguished Minister's Innovation Award.

The MPA team was recognised for the construction of mega structure (quay wall) using concrete box caissons.

To promote clean and green shipping in Singapore, the MPA team supported the Maritime Singapore Green Initiative that comprises the Green Ship Programme, Green Port Programme and Green Technology Programme to recognise and provide incentives to companies that adopt clean and green shipping practices over and above the minimum required by International Maritime Organization Conventions.

The MPA team implemented night signals for vessels crossing the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) and precautionary areas in the Singapore straits.

The Port of Singapore received the ‘Port of the Year’ award at the International Seafarers’ Awards 2010 organised by the International Committee of Seafarers’ Welfare (ICSW). This award, jointly awarded to the Port of Barcelona and the Port of Singapore, is conferred to the port that has done the most for the provision and access to welfare services and facilities to seafarers.

Minister’s Innovation Awards 2010

The MPA team behind the development of ‘Anchorage-view’: a real-time anchorage capacity, prediction and monitoring system. They were credited the distinguished Minister’s Innovation Award.

The team developed and implemented an innovative low-cost boardband system for maritime use that enables businesses to reduce operational cost, increase productivity and services through the adoption of automation and remote communications tools for the monitoring and tracking of assets and goods.

To improve shipyards’ productivity, the MPA team supported a project to devise a solution to facilitate business process flow management, project optimisation, and scheduling in the marine industry - particularly for shipyards based on the concept of Multi-Project Critical Chain management.

The MPA team was recognised for the environmental monitoring and management plan for the reclamation of Pasir Panjang terminal Phases 3 & 4.

Organised by the Singapore Tourism Board, the Singapore Experience Awards honours the best individuals and organisations with the most outstanding and integrated Singapore experiences in the Singapore tourism industry.
