The Academy provides global maritime leadership training for overseas port and maritime officials through its flagship programmes. These include:
Advanced Maritime Leaders’ Programme
The Advanced Maritime Leaders’ Programme (AMLP) was launched in April 2015 and is the Academy’s apex programme for senior maritime officials and their deputies heading the maritime or port administration in their respective countries. This unique and immersive executive programme with a focus on transformational leadership, seeks to hone the leadership skills of senior maritime leaders and bring positive change to their organisations amidst an increasingly complex and globalised environment. The 2nd AMLP was held in April 2017.
Maritime Public Leaders’ Programme
The Maritime Public Leaders’ Programme (MPLP) is a broad-based executive programme for senior officials in maritime administrations who are at least Director-level or equivalent. The non-examinable programme offers an interdisciplinary curriculum covering port planning and management, shipping economics and finance, maritime law, security, public leadership and governance. Participants will have opportunities to interact with prominent figures from the maritime industry as well as gain insights into Singapore’s maritime operations and broad planning strategies. The 7th MPLP was held in October 2017.
Port Management Programme
The Port Management Programme (PMP) was launched in December 2014. Designed for port masters, harbour masters and middle management personnel from maritime and port administrations, the programme covers topics such as master planning for new ports, vessel traffic management, emergency planning and response, as well as crisis communications management. The 5th PMP was held in June 2018.
Singapore Maritime Administrators’ Forum
In conjunction with the 11th Singapore Maritime Week, MPA organised the inaugural Singapore Maritime Administrators’ Forum (SMAF) on 19 April 2016. In support of the IMO 2016 theme of “Shipping: Indispensable to the World”, this biennial thought leadership forum aimed to highlight the importance of shipping and to raise awareness of shipping’s role in supporting and sustaining today’s global economy. This by-invitation only forum comprised two sessions: (i) Indispensable Shipping: Country Maritime Initiatives and (ii) Indispensable Shipping: Meeting the Regulatory Requirements. The 2nd Maritime Adnministrators' Forum was held on 25 April in conjunction with the 13th Singapore Maritime Week 2018. The forum was held in support of the IMO's World Maritime Day theme for 2018, “IMO 70: Our Heritage — Better Shipping for a Better Future”.
